The war on holistic MDs

If you've been following Dr. Wright's "War on Holistic MDs" series, you know just how bad it's gotten. The Washington State Medical Quality Assurance Commission has appointed itself judge and jury when it comes to deciding what types of alternative health procedures citizens of the state can have access to -- or even learn about. In fact, Dr. Wright and the Tahoma Clinic are under investigation by the Commission simply for advertising and providing information on the clinic website about several procedures offered there.

While the investigation is bad enough in itself (especially considering not a single patient complaint regarding the actual use of the procedures in question has been recorded), at least Dr. Wright and his colleagues are still able to continue offering these valuable services to their patients. Other practitioners in the area haven't been so fortunate and have been forced to either discontinue using alternative procedures or close their practices altogether.

I know for many of you this situation seems remote: "Who cares what's happening in Washington?" But the truth is, if it can happen in Washington -- part of the West Coast "hotbed" for holistic and natural medicine -- it can (and probably will) happen anywhere. That is, unless you and I stand up for our right to choose what types of procedures we want to use to keep ourselves in optimal health.

That's why I encourage you to follow Dr. Wright's advice, and write, call, fax, and e-mail your state and local government representatives. Tell them about what's happening in Washington state and make it known, in no uncertain terms, that you refuse to support a candidate who would condone or employ such measures. Make them aware that this issue is of utmost importance to you and will be one of the primary factors you consider during elections. After all, these elected officials are in office to represent you, and they can't do their job effectively if they're not aware of your stance.

To find the names and contact information of your representatives, contact Capitol Advantage at (800)659-8708 or visit their website, www.capitoladvantage.com.

And while you're at it, take a moment to help the citizens of Washington state fight the good fight by sending letters of protest regarding the practices of the Washington State Medical Quality Assurance Commission to the Washington State Department of Health and to Governor Christine Gregoire. Contact information is listed on the Nutrition & Healing website (www.wrightnewsletter.com), along with free access to the articles Dr. Wright has written on the War on Holistic MDs.
