Sudden hair loss in women

Q: I am a 28-years-old woman, and my hair is suddenly thinning. I have heard of this happening to men, but not to women. What can I do?

JVW: In some cases, birth control pills and pregnancy can lead to hair loss, but for most younger women, thinning hair is the result of poor protein digestion associated with subnormal stomach acid and pepsin production. This leads to low levels of essential amino acids and essential minerals, which causes thinning hair.

To determine if this is the cause of your problem, the first thing you need to do is get your stomach acid level checked. If it's low, supplementing with hydrochloric acid-pepsin capsules with meals, as wells as with individualized essential amino acid and mineral supplements can reverse the condition.
