The ugly truth about Botox

Q: I'm considering getting Botox. I know that a lot of natural medicine doctors have concerns about it, but it's been approved by the FDA and I haven't heard any reports that anyone has died from it, so can it really be that bad?

JVW: It's true that Botox is FDA-"approved" and that no one has died from Botox injections, but that doesn't mean it's safe. The cosmetic action depends on prolonged nerve inhibition, brought on by tiny, non-lethal doses of botulinum toxin which lead to muscle paralysis.

Basically, Botox interferes with a normal body function, and, over time, that interference may have some serious consequences. A toxin that interferes with nerve function for literally months on end could very well cause permanent nerve damage.
