The skin irritant that can cure psoriasis Q: I've suffered from psoriasis for nearly 20 years. Most of the time it's manageable, but this summer it's particularly bad. Do you have any recommendations for natural therapies I might be able to try? JVW: Nickel still tends to get a bad rap for triggering skin irritation, but, ironic as it seems, when it's combined with bromide and taken in tablet form, nickel can be a very effective psoriasis treatment. Like anything else, this therapy doesn't work every single time, but in many of the patients I've treated, the psoriasis disappears completely. Other times, it's substantially improved. It's worth trying, as the quantities of nickel and bromide required are quite low and adverse reactions are few. If you'd like to read more about this therapy, see the October 2002 issue of Nutrition & Healing. Cirrhosis is a chronic liver disease that occurs when healthy liver tissue becomes scarred, preventing it from functioning properly. |
