A kinder, gentler cure for Peyronie's disease

Q: I have Peyronie's disease and my doctor told me that surgery is the only way to cure it. I was hoping you might have some information on a natural remedy that I could try first.

JVW: For those readers not familiar with this condition, Peyronie's disease occurs when the tissue along the shaft of the penis thickens, making erections curved and painful.

While mainstream medicine often resorts to surgery to treat this problem, SSKI can work wonders to relieve it naturally and non-invasively. SSKI stands for saturated solution of potassium iodide, you can apply this liquid directly to the affected area.

Although you shouldn't need a prescription to get it, you will need to contact a compounding pharmacist. The International Academy of Compounding Pharmacists website (www.iacprx.org) has a convenient database where you can search for the one closest to you.

In addition to effectively treating Peyronie's disease, SSKI also has a myriad of medicinal uses, most of which I discussed in depth in the November 2002 edition of Nutrition & Healing, which subscribers can look up for free by visiting www.wrightnewsletter.com and logging on with the username and password listed on page 8 of your most recent issue.
