Riddle me this
Riddle time: How do you turn a relatively benign (not to mention typically curable) condition into a fatal one? Not sure? Ask Big Pharma: They seem to have an uncanny knack for it. Their latest deadly blunder comes in the form of the big-selling asthma drug Singulair. In March, the FDA announced that it's conducting an investigation regarding reports of suicides in people taking Singulair. But while the situation has gotten serious enough for los Federales to get involved, this isn't the first time the drug has been linked to suicide. In fact, Merck, Singulair's manufacturer, has already listed suicidal thinking and behavior as possible side effects on the product's label. Now, I'm not belittling asthma or the thousands of people who suffer from it. I've witnessed enough serious asthma attacks to know how frightening the condition can be. But putting yourself at risk for suicide -- or even "just" depression, which is another of Singulair's possible side effects -- is hardly worth the so-called relief the drug is supposed to bring. Especially when you can control -- even eliminate -- most cases of asthma without drugs of any sort. As those of you who have been reading Nutrition & Healing and the eTips for awhile know, asthma can almost always be eliminated by uncovering and eliminating or desensitizing allergies (particularly dairy allergies).
