In the spotlight
Suzanne Somers' new book helps put the benefits of natural medicine in the spotlight

Let's be honest: It never hurts to have high-profile people on your side. Which is why I'd like to extend a heartfelt "Thank you" to Suzanne Somers. Since her own personal triumph over breast cancer using entirely holistic approaches, she's been one of the staunchest -- and most vocal -- supporters of natural medicine. And despite the ongoing criticism she faces for her stance, she's made it her mission to educate the public on the enormous healing potential natural medicine has to offer.

Her latest endeavor, a book titled "Breakthrough: Eight steps to wellness," has put her -- and the alternative practices she advocates -- squarely in the public eye. For the past week or so, Somers has been doing the typical media circuit to promote her book, and in each interview, no matter how skeptical the interviewer comes across, Somers stands firm -- against the toxic overload of chemicals the mainstream has us awash in and for going "back to basics" with the vast array of tools Mother Nature has to offer.

Among other things, Somers talks about the benefits of bio-identical hormone replacement therapy and correcting digestion by replacing the hydrochloric acid your stomach isn't producing enough of. (Sound familiar?)

And she backs up her position with quotes from interviews she conducted with some of the country's foremost experts in natural medicine -- including Dr. Wright. If you're interested in reading Somers' book, it's available in bookstores and through on-line retailers like amazon.com. In the meantime, check out the following link to see her interview on the Today show last week (where she references Dr. Wright): http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/21134540/vp/26638951#26638951
