4 reasons to side with Mother Nature

Q: I'm interested in natural medicine, but after years of taking prescription drugs without any noticeable problems, I'm curious as to why you're so skeptical of them?

Dr. Wright: There are several reasons why I prefer natural therapies over patented medications. First, patent medications greatly (and unnecessarily) increase the cost of medical care: Since they're approved and natural remedies aren't, insurance companies and Medicare will cover prescriptions for patented medications, yet won't pick up a cent of the cost of the vastly less expensive natural alternatives.

Second, by taking patented medications, you're exposing yourself unnecessarily to potential side effects, however minimal, that can be avoided by using Nature's original versions.

Third, by choosing patented medications over natural therapies, not only are you exposing yourself to potential risks, but you're also missing out on the other health benefits of the nutrients involved in alternative medicine.

And on a broader scale, any time a patented medication is chosen over a natural alternative, it just helps perpetuate the system that allows twisted, misshapen versions of natural molecules to be widely advertised as effective and at the same time provides jail time for those who tell the truth about the superior effectiveness of the original, natural versions.
