A trend worth trying
"Natural" food products were the most popular choice among consumers last year.

I'm not much of a trendsetter -- or follower, for that matter. But there's one new trend emerging that I have every intention of following…or perhaps I should say "continuing" -- because it's something you and I have been doing for quite awhile, thanks to what we've learned from Dr. Wright.

I'm talking about the dramatic increase in consumer demand for organic, whole, natural foods. According to an article I just read, there's been a shift away from low-calorie, low- fat foods as the healthiest options. Instead, "natural and pure have become healthy eating ideals." And the demand doesn't appear to be in danger of dwindling anytime soon, as more "people look for holistic, genuine nutrition they can trust."

As a result, more and more manufacturers are creating these sorts of products. In fact, "natural" was the most popular claim made on new food and beverage products last year. Falling under that "natural" umbrella were also claims such as "no additives/preservatives," "organic', and "whole grain." And food industry experts expect this trend to continue "well into 2009."

Here's hoping it goes well BEYOND that.
